Program Overview

Through this practicum, students will have the opportunity to build thought and frameworks around content creators and the ways they can build, engage, and monetize their audiences across platforms. Students will deepen their understanding of how various content platforms are serving their creator communities by conducting a competitive analysis and synthesizing their findings to create a presentation summarizing the market landscape. We are witnessing a golden age for content creators; large, small, and everything in between. Creators have the opportunity to build organic communities of loyal followers across a multitude of platforms. Not only can creators build communities, but they can also monetize their influence and build businesses around their social clout.

What you'll do:

Through the program, you will gain insights into the landscape of the creator economy and develop frameworks for ways in which content creators can effectively leverage their audiences. In this practicum you will learn:

  • Basic terms and concepts related to the content creator economy and trends in the space
  • Perform a social market research to identify trends which can generate engagement and business value to companies
  • Understand how creators operate on different social media platforms to monetize their content and expand their reach / brand engagement
  • Develop a competitive analysis of different social media platforms (TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, Youtube, Twitch, and Clubhouse), identify key features and incentives mechanisms for creators
  • Research specific creators who have successfully built, engaged, and monetized their audience to understand social media dynamics
  • Create recommendations on how social media platforms can better attract and serve creators to potentialize the number of users and platform usage time
  • Develop future scenarios to identify future trends for content creators
  • Create and deliver a compelling presentation showcasing insights of the market landscape, how creators are using different platforms and how platforms (such as Facebook) can attract and serve creators
