Through this externship, you'll delve into the nuances of online retailing, digital strategy, and consumer behavior, thereby enhancing your business acumen in a real-world setting.
The Experience
In this externship, you'll participate in a comprehensive exploration of market trends, customer preferences, and the behaviors of Gen Z audiences. You will compare best practices in the online retail sector, evaluate the effectiveness of existing strategies, and provide recommendations for enhancing The Home Depot's online décor shopping experience.
During this Externship, you will:
- Familiarize yourself with the mission and objectives of The Home Depot, the BACE team, and Home Décor at Home Depot.
- Learn about terms and concepts in online retailing, the home décor sector, and the shifting trends among younger generations.
- Conduct primary and secondary market research to gain insights into the preferences and behaviors of the Gen Z customer segments.
- Develop a customer profile to better understand the nature and buying behaviors of these targeted segments.
- Carry out comparative analysis with other home décor retailers to discover best practices in engaging Gen Z customers.
- Analyze the digital strategies of other retailers in comparison to The Home Depot's current online strategies, identifying potential gaps and opportunities.
- Create and deliver a comprehensive presentation detailing your findings and recommendations for evolving HDH's online environment to appeal to the Gen Z segments more effectively.
Qualifications
We're seeking motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors currently enrolled in accredited HBCUs. The strongest applicants will have demonstrated interest in digital marketing, online retail, business strategy, and consumer behavior.
Students studying business, marketing, communications, digital media, and other related majors are an excellent fit for this program, but it's open to all majors.
