In partnership with THD’s Capabilities Marketing Team, this externship program provides a platform for students to engage with this mission. The Home Depot prides itself on enhancing the awareness and accessibility of its diverse services that equip customers with tools for their projects, with its mobile app being a core vehicle for this interaction. In collaboration with various teams, including content strategy, art direction, media, and its app development team, The Home Depot is dedicated to delivering a seamless and comprehensive customer experience. This externship is a student's opportunity to contribute to this exciting journey, as The Home Depot reimagines the future of home improvement shopping.
The Experience
In this externship, you will delve into primary and secondary research to identify trends, preferences, and behaviors among younger generations and to pinpoint opportunities for creating best-in-class in-app experiences targeting these demographic groups.
During this externship, you will:
- Familiarize yourself with the mission and objectives of The Home Depot and the Capabilities Marketing team.
- Learn about terms and concepts in retail technology and marketing, as well as macro trends among GenZ in the home improvement sector.
- Conduct research on different types of retail industry technologies and capabilities that can work with mobile apps
- Conduct primary and secondary research to understand the unique shopping behaviors and home improvement project trends of Gen Z consumers.
- Create and deliver a compelling presentation highlighting your findings and recommendations for how The Home Depot should evolve their mobile app capabilities to best appeal to the GenZ segment.
Qualifications
We are seeking ambitious sophomores, juniors, and seniors currently enrolled in accredited HBCUs. The strongest applicants will have demonstrated interest in technology, marketing, retail, strategy development, mobile app trends, retail technology, customer insights, and design.
Students studying business, marketing, computer science, and other humanities and technology-focused majors are the best fit for this program, but it is open to all majors.
